My husband would come here during the summers growing up so it's a childhood favorite for him. My first time was this week. It's still the off season here in OC, so there was absolutely no wait. Staff is a little scarce during this time which is totally understandable - service was still excellent. The food hit the spot noting super spectacular but it was very good - I didn't want to eat breakfast anywhere else and be disappointed! You can count on the big portions and good food. Also want to point out that they actually CLEAN the tables at this place! Not like your typical restaurant where they take a dirty dish rag and halfway wipe the table. The guy clearing the tables was awesome! Makes me want to come back next time I visit.

First, its important to note that I went for breakfast and was secretly wishing my family as not there so I could smash a peanut butter sundae. I had pedestrian pancake, eggs and bacon with above average has browns. I suggest I place of regular water asking for soda/seltzer water. They have the old schools seltzer gimmick/maker which will ward off the hangover sins of the previous night. I would give breakfast a 3 but the sundaes and ice cream a five hence my four. It's also important to mention the service was attentive and quick with the coffee refills.

I have always come here for their icecream but most recently visited for breakfast! I loved it! It was the perfect dinner-ish type place that I was looking for. I ordered the 'manhandler' which came with 2 eggs, homefries, scrapple and 2 pancakes!! I was in heaven! It was very good and very well priced. I wanted to get icecream after breakfast but I was too full...darn! This is such a great summer place, especially for that evening icecream cone. :)

Fried chicken is almost as good as Flynn's in Phillipsburg, NJ

It's ice cream, pure and simple. Anyone who rates otherwise just isn't into it or is to kitschy. C'mon. If you, my friends, have been coming here since you were 7 in terms of the boardwalk variety, you are therefore brainwashed to believe it's amazing. And it is! I have had almost ever freaking combination of sundaes at this place and it never disappoints. Gorilla Treat? Check. Triple Chocolate? That's my brothers. Mint Chocolate? I can't count the ways, there have been too many. Anyhow, I remember when the sundae was $6.95. It's slightly more now. But certainly worth it. Get one, extra hot fudge. Go for it. FYI for everyone berating breakfast / lunch as average, of course it is. This is an ICE Cream shop. Breakfast here was GOOD, not Grand. NO matter, I wasn't expecting the Ritz brunch. This place is MADE for ice cream.

Good ice cream and shakes. Decent portions. Crab cake was ok. Not much lump but not much filler either. A tiny but bland. My kid got chicken strips which were actually chicken like. Fries were I salted. Would have gone for four but the prices. I know, it's ocean city but $47 for lunch for two is a bit pricey. At least the cherry coke was tasty.

If you are looking for good, quick all American food, this is the best. We have been going for years, an Ocean City Staple. First, the sodas are made with real soda water. The ice cream counter is right out of the 50's. I got a Cherry Coke. They make it the old fashioned way, with cola and cherry syrup. It was great. The menu is full of Comfort foods, Fried Chicken, Turkey and Mashed potatoes, club sandwich, burgers, milkshakes, fries, etc.. I had the Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. It was excellent. The Chicken was crisp and tender. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening ice cream. There is usually not a wait until summer time.

This is an OC must visit. Just eat so much the first time to make yourself sick so you don't have to come back for the remainder your trip.

Dumser's is the best. It's an awesome little ice cream parlor that also serves meals. My friends and I came in for ice cream and it was delicious and the service was friendly. You don't have to sit down in the restaurant you can always order at the window. They have much more than ice cream with desserts like apple pie and strawberry shortcake. Dumser's is delicious.

One of the best places we have eaten at during our trip here to OC. The food was good quality, cooked correctly and priced right. Four of us ate for $38 bux plus a health tip. I want to give a shout out to our waiter Justin who is worth the mention. He was attentive, polite and got it right. Great job! The place have been there since 1939 but the owners keep it clean and maintained in its original fashion. If you want a place that has great food, good service at the right price check out Dumsers, they have two locations here in OC.

Ate breakfast here on memorial weekend (Sunday). Would never again. Instead of hiring more staff they just put up a sign asking forgiveness for being understaffed. Are we not at about 9% unemployment here in the US? Don't tell me the cant find staff to hire. There's not even a hiring sign up that I could see. Sure as shootin, the staff was overworked thus pissed off and not happy to see paying customers. As promised the food took a long time. Everything food wise was decent though except the pancakes were hard, shiney and dark brown (ie 'burned' prolly from the cook trying to keep up with the crowd so he/she turned the griddle too hot) Prices are too high as well. $10 for two pcakes, 2 sausages, 2 eggs and about 3/4 cup of bland homefries? My recommendation: Cut into your huge profits folks and hire more help!

After walking out of the 32 palm at the Hilton Hotel we came here. Had our food faster than we got coffee at 32 Palm. Food and service was decent. Priced about right for what you get in a resort town. Have read some of the other reviews on bad service, specially at the end of season. Bad service stinks anytime, but when the kids go back to school its hard to find people to work for the few weeks left of the season. Kristina was our server today and she was great. A good place for ice cream and traditional food.

Had lunch here today with a group of 6. I ordered the Monterey salad, which the server told me was the lovely salad pictured on the menu. Yeeeaaahhh... no. What was pictured was a lovely combo of greens, artichoke hearts, grilled chicken and deviled egg halves. What I got was a big handful of pre-pkged iceberg lettuce and bits of carrot and a few cherry tomatoes. The waitress apologized for the egg not being on the plate and a few minutes later brought out a plain hard-boiled sliced into fourths. For $10 I expect a little better entree salad, even in a touristy locale. Others in the party had breakfast food, and fish-n-chips, which all seemed decent enough. Maybe it's salads that dumbfound them? Still, prices seemed a bit much for what we got. One star for the hard-working and efficient waitress who was nice as could be. When we return this summer we'll try them for ice cream -- which at over $3 per scoop had darn well better be "premium".

They have a really bad system of seating people and you end up standing in line. You basically have J-1 visa workers from other countries so the english can be confusing to them. I wasn't impressed with my scrambled eggs, I asked them to be scrambled with cheese and I ended up getting flat eggs with two slices of cheese thrown on them. Wasn't impressed.

Awful food - I think this was officially the worst omelet in my life. My kids liked the milk shakes though. However if you are planning on having anything other than ice cram - this is not the place.

I went to Dumser's for breakfast with the fam over Labor Day weekend. The food was standard breakfast fare with no frills. One highlight to the meal was the soda water. It is one of the best kept secrets at Dumsers. It is amazing and all sodas are handcrafted.

  • Kathleen B.

Stopped for breakfast. Nothing fancy but good portions. The service was very good from the front door to checkout. The breakfast was overpriced in my opnion but probably within the market prices for the area.

Food OK. This is the ice cream and malt place. For that, there is none better than Dumser's.

  • Janine B.

We stopped here for burgers and fries, and that is what we got...and we were not disappointed at all with them. My husband got a milkshake, which he loved, and I got a coke, which just tasted better than other fountain drinks (could be the atmosphere..IDK) lol. We liked it so good, we went back the next day for ice cream, and that did not let us down either. The staff was very friendly also..The only reason it received 4 stars instead of 5 was the high prices. 2 burgers, fries, milkshake, and a coke was almost 30.00...ouch...that was carry out, so no tip even.

Ocean City is not exactly food mecca. Everything seems to be about the same quality - - it's all edible and filling but nothing to die for. Dumsers is no different. Decent food, decent prices with a good variety that should satisfy almost anyone's cravings. Their fried chicken has pretty good flavor, their salads are mediocre - - iceberg with stuff on/in it. Mashed potatoes are instant, gravy tastes like it's from a can, just like their green beans. However, they have a good variety of desserts though which is what they are known for. A lot of variety in their sundaes, banana splits, milk shakes etc. If you're only looking for ice cream treat - go here. If you are just looking for sustenance this will do. Nothing horrible - nothing fantastic but if you're hungry it will work - on par for OC.

5 stars for their ice cream and their fried chicken! It's a tradition!

    (5)
  • John R.

Fast service for a quick bite and some good dessert. I had a chocolate shake and a BLT and was happy with it but to me Dumser's main purpose is dessert (Ice Cream nearly anyway you want it) and breakfast type fare (Waffles, etc). Do not go here looking for gourmet food, go here for what it is good at.

    (4)
  • Will C.

Okay if you have never been to Dumser's the best way I can describe it is a diner/ice parlor. If you are looking for great ice cream this is the place milkshakes, sundaes, floats, it doesn't matter they are all good. The food they serve is typical diner food and nothing to write home about with the exception of their fried chicken which is really good. The place is huge with plenty of tables but in the summer time it is extremely busy and the service can be a little slow. If you just want to pick up some ice cream they have service windows outside that you can walk up to and order. The parking lot is really tight and tough to get in and out of but you should be able to find a space.

vacation trip, visited once for breakfast and 4 nights for ice cream, one night sitting in the resaturant. the inside of the restaurant is nice, clean, and bright. breakfast menu was extensive. food was good, portions were decent but a little small considering the price. service was pleasant and efficient. ice cream menu had all of the basics and some nice exotic flavors as well.definitely will return.

  • Mike L.

Dumsers is an excellent place of ice cream. Its breakfast menu is good, but very overpriced. For example, creamed chip beef on toast is now $10.95. Compare that to Jimmy's Kitchen who makes the best SOS at $7.20. Lunch/dinner are OK; no standouts, but the club sandwich and fried chicken is good. Their recent price increase was significant; it's not high dollar, but now I consider it expensive for what you get. $2.59 for a soft drink/iced tea - too high. I'll drink water. You will enjoy their ice creams, and I do recommend them for that. However, there are other good choices for lunch and dinner.

  • Jacki F.

I am single and when I eat out alone there are some restaurants who prefer to seat me at their bar or counter. This is never the case at Dumser's. I am seated with a smile and waited on just the same as if I were with a group. It is a nice feeling. The food is good for the price and type of selection on the menu. The ice cream is yummy.

    (4)
  • Chris M.

This is our favorite ice cream joint in Ocean City. You just can't be the variety of flavors and the quality of the ice cream at Dumser's.

Ice cream on a hot summer night after a round of mini-golf. Yep, I'm back in OC. Dumser's is the old standby. The night crowd at the take out window can be fierce, but the line usually moves fast. They only have maybe 7 flavors of hard packed ice cream, as well as soft serve. On a recent visit, I enjoyed a thick black raspberry shake. Decent, but average. While there, I noticed at the take out window that they also have Tubs O' Fried Chicken to go. I told my brother, we're coming back tomorrow. Next day, we picked up our 15 piece bucket at the take out window, brought it back to the condo, and sat in Maryland Fried Chicken bliss. The coating is thin, but crisp, well seasoned, but not too spicy or soggy. My brother and I (yep, just the two of us) managed to put away the majority of the bucket. The side of cole slaw was forgettable, but the crinkle cut fries were a good match. It also came with some limp, generic dinner rolls that we never touched. In the end, Dumser's is an OC institution for ice cream, but you really should try the chicken. You won't be disappointed.

even when tired and starving... the food still tasted bleh. ordered a cheeseburger sub with grilled onions, ketchup, mayo. burgers came out so overcooked it disintegrated in my mouth like sand, the onions were tough and undercooked, of course there wasn't any ketchup or mayo on the sub - good thing i took the time to open the thing up and check it before driving off. i'm sure the ice cream here is better than the food - but that's not saying much. i'm not sure if the food would be good even after stumbling drunk out of seacrets. maybe that's what they count on.

  • Bruce Y.

They say it's a drive in, but it's really not. That disappointed me, but when I got in and saw how they had it arranged, I forgot about that. It's a 50's style restaurant with the option to go for dinner or ice cream. Really great service, great atmosphere.

  • Tyler H.

FOOD - The ice cream is on point. I was clear to my family and I that they took their time making their creations rather than someone whipping something up quickly in the kitchen. Other than Ice cream, the menu has TONS of other items to chose from that also taste good! SERVICE - Our server had three or four other tables to take care of and still visited often. I can forgive a little slowness in getting to the table because of that. He brought everything we asked for without having to wait long. ATMOSPHERE - When we went, it was slightly noisy because there were a good number of people inside. This was not the fault of any workers thought. Everything was clean and in order. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

My wife, my family, and I all come to OCMD each summer for a week. On the weeks we are not here, we find ourselves talking about the anticipation of having Dumser's once more when we finally return on our next trip. For years we have come here, and for years we will continue to come here. The ice cream is where it's at. I'll admit I frequent the place mostly for ice cream, but the times we've sat down and had food, it was always enjoyable. Almost like good diner food. But the ice cream really is very good. I'm pretty lactose-intolerant, and I still head to the dark side to enjoy the ice cream here. My favorite is the Root Beer Float. Anything you check out on Yelp! will always have a few negative reviews, but honestly, they're usually by people that are too hard to please, anyway. You don't know me, but I for one throw my opinion out there that this place is absolutely worth trying.

Dumser's is so delicious, I can't wait for my next visit to Ocean City. My favorite is the brownie sundae which is so big, one person can't eat it but you will definitely want to! I was so tempted by the ice cream selections, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted! You feel just like a kid at a candy store! That's what the beach is all about! Make it a stop next time you're in OC!

The food was delicious and portion sizes were average.. Very friendly staff, which makes it pleasant and you can get good tips from them on where to go and things to do while here in town.. Definitely will be coming back..

We stopped in this Dumser's for our ice cream fix (as one generally does when one sees Dumser's around Ocean City) but ended up staying to order lunch. This is your typical American restaurant serving up standard breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. I ordered a breakfast omelet, and it was a good size but I was disappointed that it didn't come with any cheese. The rest of my group ordered off of the lunch/dinner menu, which I thought had better stuff and will probably order off of when I visit next (the hot hamburger looked particularly delicious). I did enjoy my milkshake - I like that you can mix ice cream flavors to create something that really suits your taste. One thing that I was sad to see was such a high surcharge for substituting sweet potato fries for the fries with your entree- I love sweet potato fries and try and substitute whenever I can, and that seemed like a really steep extra charge.

When Seacrets let's out at 2am a flood of people crawl through the sand to this small take out burger joint. You drunkenly try to stand in line with your hands to yourself for tops 15 minutes, place your order, then wait tops 10 more minutes for food and you're done! I ate a burger here last night that saved my life.

I have some serious mixed feelings about Dumsers. I go to OC for weekend trips in the off season every fall or winter. And Dumsers is one of the only places still open, which I appreciate. This location I go to for breakfast (the other location closer to the boardwalk does not serve breakfast. I am a big fan of the Belgian waffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. It's delicious! However, the price is absolutely insane. I believe it was almost $8 for the waffle and the scoop of ice cream added a whopping $3.95 to that. The ice cream is amazing, but they put entirely too much on the waffle and the price was outrageous (but it was my birthday weekend, so I splurged). My boyfriend got a short stack of blueberry waffles and a side of sausage. I don't remember the price of his pancakes, but the blueberries added an addition $1.95. He said there were way too many blueberries and the pa cares weren't anything. All together we spend $30 for something we could have gotten for half the price at IHOP. The hostess wasn't very nice, and the server was awkward. I was going to give this Dumsers two stars because the service is typically pretty crappy, and the prices are insane. I wanted to get a sundae for my birthday, but the $7.95 price tag on top of outrageously priced breakfast stopped me. For the price I'm paying for a divey place, I better be getting stellar service. And I'm not. What bumps it up to three stars for me is that I've had sundaes from here before, and the ice cream quality is phenomenal. Plus the atmosphere. It feels like the quintessential beach drive in. That's enough to bump it up one star. I guess. I wouldn't come here if it wasn't the off season, though.

I'm so sorry, but this ice cream isn't special, it has NO distinctive flavor of it's own. My daughter had banana ice cream that didn't taste bananas and I had a simple vanilla cone with sprinkles. It's the hype and not the ice cream. Josephine's was much better.

    (2)
  • Paul T.

I've been here several times. It's not bad for a quick meal. Food is decent and seating was fairly fast. If you're looking for a quaint place, this is not it. However, if you're looking for a quick family (kids) meal this is great.

    (3)
  • Darius M.

Hmmm waiting in line in a hot asphalt parking lot for sub-par ice cream isn't my thing. If this is your family "tradition" I feel for you; if not, explore one of the many better options which, in this case would include the grocery store.

    (2)
  • Jackie S.

Usually come here just for the ice cream, and it never disappoints. On my most recent visit here I got the fish and chips with steak fries. Pretty standard and tasty meal; nothing special about it, but it was just what I wanted so it was good. I also got a milkshake later in the night and was happy to find out you can mix two flavors into one. Got the Oreo with coffee milkshake and it was delicious! Dumsers will always be my favorite place for ice cream :)

Best ice cream and malts in Ocean City. We have been frequenting Dumsers on EVERY trip we take to Ocean City. It's our after dinner treat each night for our entire week :-)

Amazing friend chicken!!!! Plus yummy ice cream. The butterfinger was the flavor of the day and it didn't disappoint. Only negative is the service. Quick to take order.... But if you need anything good luck finding someone.... Took forever to get our check. First time there it was a empty thursday night. Second time was a busier saturday and service was actually better. So be patient and ask up font for everything you want....

Another year in Ocean City, another year of solid Dumser's food and ice cream. Whether we go for lunch or for ice cream, we are met with great food. Service was a bit slow this year, but the place was always packed.

We had fun eating ice cream Sundays while on our beach vacation. Very good ice cream! The Sundays were big and yummy although a bit pricy but we were feeling like a splurge. They have a sit down restaurant with food but we just went for the ice cream. You can also enjoy your ice cream from a walk up window or go in and sit down.

I'm not the type to "Scream for ice cream".. but Dumser's is simply Maryland tradition. Stopped in this past weekend for a peanut buttery sundae. What I got, well... more fudge/chocolate than peanut butter. Typically peanut butter sundaes are a bit more expensive and I don't mind paying the price, if the quality and quantity of the peanut butter is up to par. I just find that Dumser's lacks what it is that I am looking for in an ice cream sundae, especially coming from a girl who doesn't necessarily crave cold desserts.

    (3)
  • Steven S.

Went in for ice cream and was dissapointed. Both my wife and I ordered sundaes. The price was a little more then normal which I wouldnt have minded if the ice cream made in store was worth it. But sadly my ice cream didn't taste like what i ordered which was peanut butter fudge. It lacked any savory peanut butter flavor. My wife had butter pecan and it was the same problem. They both had similar flavor and color which should not be. I would save your money and go elsewhere.

    (2)
  • Chris S.

As always, the best ice cream in ocean city. I look forward to eating here. The soft serve is well worth the $5 die a large. I would pay $10 for it

  • Samuel A.

Great house-made ice cream (not Breyers as some other reviews mistakenly indicate - save for the sugar free vanilla which is Breyers) If you go for just ice cream later at night, and decide to be seated inside the restaurant, service is friendly and prompt. The two scoop sundae was more than enough for two. Portions and scoops are generous. Topping and ingredients taste fresh. Good atmosphere if you want to get in and have a "classic" ice cream parlor experience. I make it a point to come here at least once whenever I'm in OC or Fenwick Island.

    (4)
  • Tony H.

No food, just ice cream do us. Well that's not a problem. If your business has been around since 1939 w/ ice cream I'd say you're doing quite well. Terrific ice cream! All homemade. If your first guess is that I had chocolate you'd be correct. I have quit ordering cones...strictly cups! I used the cone like a 3 yr old...all over me! I like the ice cream as it gently melts in the cup...it tastes better to me and w/ a cup, as I said I don't have it all over the place. I'd safely say " best ice cream in Ocean City Md."

    (4)
  • Bryan M.

Ice Cream was good, service good and place was clean. Would go back again when in OC.

  • Jennifer B.

Went for breakfast and really wasn't impressed. The server made no extra effort. My order and my sons' order were wrong and it was kinda just shrugged off (and never corrected), that was of course because we weren't checked on until we were almost done with our plates. The food was also a little pricey. Pancakes were nothing great, and French toast tasted like you could make at home. Again overall not impressed for the cost, there are a lot better breakfast options in the area.

  • Adam K.

The lighting in this place is extraordinary! I didn't mind because we got to the beach a little late today & there was a bit of an overcast so I was able to get my tanning done while I ate thanks to Dumser's face melting lights!

  • Sam W.

My friend told me about this place before I came. I thought it was going to be amazing, but to my surprise I found it to be slightly disappointing. Apparently their "specialty" is fried chicken. Not at all, I found it slightly bitter. Very disappointed. But don't get me started with the prices of the drinks! 2.79 for a drink with free refills. Seems ok at first but you get the check and it adds up to more than an entire meal with 3 people. Also to mention that the waiter never asked if we wanted a refill. Stick with water! I was expecting to get ice cream afterwards but that was before I knew that a sundae was almost 8$, which is crazy. We just stuck with the casual Candy Kitchen, which wasn't far away. I'm guessing this place makes it's money off of their drink sales and ice cream. Stick with water! Although I gave this place 2 stars it was closer to a 3. From what I heard, it would have been different if I had tried the ice cream.

Pork chops and eggs for breakfast! Need I say more? They were perfectly marinated, and so tender. Kind of off the beaten path, Dumser's is my breakfast destination when I vacation in Ocean City, MD.

The food was great and the ice cream was even better! This is a great place to go for both dinner and dessert. We were seated very quickly and the service was great! The ice cream was so good!!

My daughters and I were at Dumsers 7/22/14. The ice cream was really good but expensive. We paid about $15 for two cones of ice cream and a cup of ice cream (single scoop).

  • Shakeem B.

Food and service was great!!! I heard about the long lines that form for breakfast so I was eager to get in early. Arrived around 10:20 and had about a 10-15 min wait. There is an old nostalgic feel to the restaurant that made it very inviting. We were promptly greeted by our waitress who took our drink orders followed by our breakfast orders. I got the French toast and my son, the creamed chipped beef. It took a little longer than usual for breakfast orders compared to other establishments offering the same. It was well worth the wait! Eggs were perfectly scrambled and French toast was delicious!!! I definitely will be coming here for breakfast whenever I'm in OC!

My family and I have been coming to dumsers dairyland since I was a small child. We LOVE it! They have wonderful ice cream sundaes, shakes, and floats! I've tried them all and have never been disappointed! There is always a very long wait at the take out window anytime after dinner but is worth the time you wait! It's a staple in my beach vacation and will surely be yours! The peanut butter fudge ice cream is a must try!

We have been to Dumser's quite few times over the past 3 years and it never disappoints. We have only had the ice cream and it is totally delicious. The sundaes are outstanding and so are the shakes. Totally kid friendly with a friendly staff and clean bathrooms.

The ice cream, 8 stars. The food, 3 stars. They have some complex flavored ice creams but they make them taste so simple. Nobody does better ice cream in the OC than Dumser's and all of the locations are the same quality. My fave is the vanilla cone with sprinkles. Gotta get one every time I'm at the beach! Came to this specific location for breakfast. In a group of 4 there wasn't a super long wait but it is pretty busy during breakfast. Typical diner food minus the amazing "diner, drive-in and dives" tasting food. Ordered the western omelet with mushrooms, did I even get cheese? There was like no cheese on my omelet! Hello! That's the best part. My boyfriend go the french toast and we split half and half. French toast was pretty "A-OK" as well. The service was... not horrible. Not the best breakfast, not the worst. Wish I would have ordered a club sandwich like the 5 year old boy next to me! He's obviously smarter than me.

We've been coming here literally since I was born. The food is always amazing, and we always stop in at least twice (once for food, then again for ice cream) every time we come down. It's a family tradition now, and will continue to be.

Came here on a Thursday night for dinner. Dumsers isn't exactly a place where you'd go to get great quality food, but the chicken cheesesteak I got was good enough. The sweet potato fries are overly sweet, and feel like they've got extra sugar in them. Not a big fan. Also little bit disappointed in the lack of the choices of flavors for ice cream and the service was just ok.

Food was good. Coffee was really good. I was hoping for a larger breakfast menu. Standard breakfast options. Biscuit wasn't the best. Waitress was nice and I showed up at 8 and beef the long line.

Mixed review - BLAH for dinner order - Yum for ice cream. We were sat immediately - 3 adults, 1 child, 1 baby. Line outside for ice cream. Inside is very loud but good if you have a possibly crying baby at some point, etc. We had two servers (trainee & trainer) - They were friendly. Food & ice cream both came out promptly. My son ordered the mac & cheese & apple slices off the kid menu - it was ok. I ordered the turkey dinner platter with mashed potatoes, green beans, & gravy - yuck. The entire plate was DRENCHED in gravy. The turkey slices were presented on a folded piece of white bread (odd & no flavor) - Actually, nothing on my plate had flavor. My Dad had their fried chicken, crinkle fries, and cole slaw - The chicken looked good. I tasted one of his fries - NO seasoning - YUCK! Not one grain of salt was detected....and I believe they were baked not fried. My Mom had the fried clams - It looked like they had just scooped out the bottom of the frying basket & gave her that. She had sweet potato fries & cole slaw. The sweet potato fries were too sweet, for some reason. Again, no seasoning on them...and they looked like that had sat under a heat lamp - very, very limp/mushy. Do NOT bother going to get lunch or dinner here. ONLY come here for dessert. We all ordered waffle cones b/c we were in a hurry. Flavors were yummy (not the best I've ever had but yummy and definitely homemade). Ambiance is lacking - they have a front porch that could be really cute with tables for those eating ice cream from the walk up window, etc....and it just is littered with a unwound watering hose and trash. Bathrooms smelled like a campsite outhouse or pool house (like old urine and musty mold)

Great soft serve and good selection of hand dipped ice cream. Plenty of locations to try. An OC must!

Reminds you of the old time ice cream shoppe but they also serve a variety of meals from sandwiches to platters and the best ice cream and sundaes you will ever want to cure your sweet tooth! No trip to OCMD is complete without stopping at A Dumser's before you leave!

Good, solid family dining place. Fried chicken was good, but not blow you out of the water good.

We can always count on a good breakfast at Dumsers. Our visit this week was no exception. Everything was served hot and was expertly prepared. We ordered a variety of dishes including fried eggs, scrapple, hot cakes and omelettes. All were delicious. The only problem was getting a check - after clearing the dishes our waitress disappeared. We had a two-year old in our party and weren't expecting such a long wait to get our check especially since the place was only about one quarter filled. The food was very good. We will be going back.

Dumser's is really a great restaurant in Ocean City. I've been many times and have been happy each time. Both ice cream and food is well done and you can definitely get a hearty breakfast when you're leaving your timeshare in the morning. A quick recommendation on the ice cream is if you are a peanut butter fan, you should order the peanut butter fudge ice cream. If you're a true peanut butter fan then you must go the next level and order a sundae with the peanut butter topping! The creaminess of the ice cream balances the slightly salty topping. When the topping meets with the fudge of the ice cream, it's really a special treat with the balance of chocolate an peanut butter. Hmmmm, sounds delicious right about now! Their prices have gone up over the years, but that shouldn't really be a big surprise. A small sundae sets you back about $4. You're on vacation though! Why not splurge a little bit! Enjoy!

Sorry there was nothing special about the ice cream. I couldn't decide what ice cream I wanted to I tried a Mint Chocolate super sundae. It was ok. Hubby got a root beer float and my Mom ordered a sundae. Both said they were ok. I guess I was expecting something Spectacular but it just wasn't. I felt the ice cream sundae I ordered was just like a mint Oreo blizzard I can pick up at Dairy Queen. Probably would've been a little cheaper too...

(07/10/2013) Tried out Dumser's real food (wait, ice cream for breakfast isn't real food??) one afternoon. Bonus, "breakfast" served until 2 pm daily. 2 others had breakfast food platters (ham steak, eggs, bacon, toast, etc.). I went with Maryland Fried Chicken (leg and thigh); it's a little bit of a wait, chicken is made to order, crust was light and flaky, thin, not extra crispy. Meat was brined and fairly salty, but juicy, like squirted when you bit into it, juicy. Overall, everyone left full and satisfied, prices reasonable, service professional.

The food here is kinda mediocre, hit or miss, and the service can be lacking. However, the ice cream and fried chicken are insane! Hawaiian delight is my personal have. All the ice creams are homemade generally once a day. Hawaiian delight is a rich creamy vanilla with banana, pineapples and maraschino cherries dotted through out. It's almost like fruit cocktail fell into some vanilla ice cream. It is so good. It sounds crazy sweet, but it's just right. I also love their fountain sodas....I'm a big fan of vanilla coke. The fried chicken can be ordered at the ice cream window outside, in the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but you can call ahead and order it to go. You can do this at 11am and just walk over and get it, but I suggest you drive unless you want to walk down the street gnawing on chicken. Also definitely hit up their soft serve on the boards before you go to Kohr's! p.s. do not come here with a huge group of people, I know it seems like a great place, but I have seen groups of people in here wanting to gouge their eyeballs out with forks. They are really bad with timing for parties of 4 let alone parties of ten! Do yourselves a favor and just call in a few buckets of chicken and eat them at your condo or on the beach!

Dumser's is an OC fixture. Food isn't the greatest, but the prices are good. Our server was a little slow getting to us but he was extremely friendly and attentive. And you can't be the ice cream. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat or just dessert, this is your place.

My kind of breakfast! Went on a Friday around 11am. Was seated promptly with four adults and two kids. So many options! Everyone in our party was very happy with their food. All the food is very American style breakfast. Obviously we all ate breakfast, but they do have lunch and dinner. Our food came out really fast. No complaints, very happy. Decently priced for ocean city.

Good homemade ice cream. I only order from the window. But if you want to dine in, this is the better location. Somtthing about the decor inside is more pleasing, more relaxing. I think the other location might have too much tile making it too echoey. Plenty of outdoor seating for those who just want a quick cone.

Absolutely amazing ice cream and super generous portions. Unfortunately for my waist line, when I'm at the beach, this spot gets almost daily visits from me and my hubby. Highly recommend the mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone, mmmm......

We can only comment on the milkshakes because that is all we got. They were very creamy and thick. Everyone liked them.

Dumsers never disappoints. Even after many years away....it's like coming home when I eat here:-) Great sundaes....delicious ice cream and it has a sort of "old time" feel. If you're looking for dessert or a down home kind of dinner (like fried chicken or hamburgers)....this is your place!

Dumsers is a cute old fashion restaurant. I have good food and prices are reasonable for the area. It has alot of comfort foods like chicken n dumplings which were done differently then what I was used to they used bone in chicken and it was a liquidity broth but still good. Good chicken fingers as well. Ice cream is great although I usually get that from the location near Seacrets.

It's ok that's all that can be said for them. I was under the impression that they make there own I cream. The menu states bryers ice cream. Prices are high for that type ice cream. I was looking for ice cream home made from the farm. Won't be back anymore.
